Claude Trichet.Entinen EZB Pankkista!
Sorry saksaksi.Ehkä voisi joku kääntyä suomeksi/Entanniksi? Kiitos

The Euro-elite was obsessed by the idea of displacing the dollar from the podium: Jean-Claude Trichet, former ECB president (Keystone)
Jean-Claude Trichet has made it clear what the euro has gekrankt idea from the start: At superpower fantasies.
Right at the beginning of a very exciting meeting of the "UBS International Center of Economics, Society - a collaboration between the University of Zurich and UBS - Jean Claude Trichet, former head of the European Central Bank ECB has revealed himself, so to speak. In his opening address (not available yet) he has known, so he and a large part of the Euro-elite over the last twenty years have seen the internal contradictions in the euro system and the crisis ever since 2010.
Ok. The confession was not really his intention. On the contrary, Trichet has sought to highlight the great success of the single currency. Success? No, Trichet did not mention about the euro crisis, his only scale was compared to the U.S. dollar. Compared to that of the Euro would have increased, compared to the U.S. would Europeans and their currency away well. The U.S. currency had lost its extraordinary privileges ("Exorbitant Privilege") and they will also forfeit in favor of the euro in the shortest time on. To an audience about the problems ailing government bonds with the ECB Trichet pointed turn straight back to the U.S., whose central bank here was still worse off.
That the U.S. dollar is not actually "Exorbitant Privilege" enjoys more and the power of that currency will soon be broken, I think is a complete failure analysis and a European dream. The economist and historian Barry Eichengreen currency brings in his book aptly titled "Exorbitant Privilege" perfectly to the point. The influence of the dollar will continue to decline while, but that is a slow process. The very fact that there is no real alternative available to delay this development even more: The Chinese yuan renminbi can not be freely traded and the future of the euro will remain open as long as the Euro crisis continues - and a solution is distinguished not from there.
The failure analysis of the role of euro and dollar is not the biggest problem. Much worse is that the European elite by the inferiority complex towards the United States and because the aim of breaking with the new currency the world power of the dollar, have beaten warnings for fragile institutional pillar of the new currency in the wind. This fragility was extensively theme of this blog.
That a number of U.S. economists since the 1990s - after the Maastricht decision to monetary union - have already pointed to the many institutional shortcomings, believed the euro-elite resentment of Americans to dismiss against the new competition currency. A striking example of this was a study of the European Commission in December 2009 - just before the outbreak of the euro crisis. The title was "The euro: It can not happen. It's a bad idea. It will not load. U.S. economists on the EMU, 1989 - 2002 ". That was not meant in the sense of a confession - how could it from today's perspective after almost three years with no prospect crisis seem to be solved. Since sounded by arrogance: Look, how wrong have yet located the Americans. Here in the "Abstract":
We find it surprising that economists living in and benefiting from a large monetary union like that of the U.S. dollar were so skeptical of monetary unification in Europe. We explain the critical attitude of U.S. economists towards the single currency by several factors: first, the strong influence of the original optimum currency area theory analysis on U.S., leading to the conclusion that Europe was far from optimal to monetary union, second, the use of a static ahistorical approach to monetary unification study by comparing the full-fledged U.S. monetary union with Europe prior to monetary unification, in this way failing to see monetary unification as an evolutionary process, in third, the failure to identify pegged exchange rate regimes, Europe as the alternative to a single European currency, and fourth, the was that the single currency for Europe what Primarily a political project that ignored economic fundamentals, Malthus dooming the single currency to collapse.
How right, "the Americans" have had: The euro zone is far from an optimal currency area - farther away than Switzerland - and it has not even been any evolutionary process there and yes, the single European currency was from the beginning a political project that has ignored the economic underpinnings and still ignored - why him increasingly the most important political basis - the acceptance of affected populations - slips.
Doubts about the current institutional construct the euro area are limited by the way is not the American economist who has shown the aforementioned economists meeting again significantly. They derive from the economic logic.
