Swedish, Danish, Norwegian, English, German etc. are all germanic languages and have many similarities in structure and vocabulary.
The only bigger language that sounds at least a bit similar as Finnish is Estonian and a person who speaks Finnish understands something when Estonian is spoken (both are Fenno-Ugric languages).
Not to forget hungarian. Its Fenno-Ugric too.

Yes,but he was talking about understanding the language and I understand about 0.0001% of hungarian language(spoken or written), but maybe about 5% of spoken estonian and 10-25% written. And now little "norvenska" to you.

Yeah, I know.
Of course there are big differences between the three languages, I just had to mention that hungarian was in the same group.
Now I live in Oslo which is more north of my hometown of Tønsberg, Porsgrunn is quite close to Tønsberg. Tønsberg er Norges eldste by, sies det. Min far är svensk, og han har familj i Karelien i Finland, and my mother have some danish blood. So one can say that i'm a son of a bastard I understand both norsk and nynorsk (new norwegian).

Of course, just a little example of that how you never know, what happens in the future and what languages you will need, in more or less important situations. Now when you said that, I noticed next rule: "Language used in the national discussions must be the correct one for that area." Anyway, the text in my message and also Christian`s text was not rude in any way, and for those members who don`t understand "skandinaviska" language, you missed nothing important.
