FS Nordic: Discussion forum FAQ
sami:
Please start by reading the Help page.
Also make sure that you have read the discussion rules which are available in three languages.
Q: Why I can't post any messages?
A: Check first that you have created an account and you are logged in (you are logged in when you see your name in the header - "Hey, your_name, you have xx messages). If the system "throws you out" after moving to any other page, you most likely don't have cookies enabled which are required.
See also that javascript is enabled. This way you can use smileys and other features.
Q: When I try to register, the system says that my e-mail is already in use ("That e-mail address is being used by a registered member already. If you feel this is a mistake, go to the login page and use the password reminder with that address."). What shall I do?
A: This means that you have already registered to this board. So do as instructed, and go to the password reminder page at this address: http://www.fsnordic.net/discussion/Reminder.php?action=input_user and there enter your e-mail and select By e-mail. A new password will be sent to you.
Q: I registered and never received the password.
A: Please contact us (forum@ fsnordic.net) and we will reset the password for you manually. You can also ask for help for any other login related problems from this e-mail.
Q: Why can't I login?
A: Make sure cookies are enabled and that username and password are correct. Both username and password are case sensitive.
Q: I've lost my password. What can I do?
A: Use the Forgot password tool. It will reset your password and sent it via e-mail to you. Or if you have provided a secret question and answer in your profile, you can enter them at the same page. If you can't get the new password, please contact us (forum@ fsnordic.net).
Q: How can I change my board language?
A: FS Nordic provides the discussion area software in three languages: English, Finnish and Swedish. English is the default language. You can set your preferred language at your Profile page. Guest users can not select a language at the time being - you must be registered and logged in.
Q: How do I include images with my messages?
A: Use either the built-in attachment feature of the board system, or link the images from another web server. With the attachment feature you can link up to five images to be attached per message. This image must be in GIF, JPG or PNG format and size must not be bigger than 150 kB.
Q: I have problems with attachments.
A: First of all, the attachment must be an image of either GIF or JPG format. Second, the size of the image must be lower than 150 kB. Thirdly, we have allocated only a limited space for attachments, so it might be possible that this space has been filled completely. Attachments are stored on our server only for a limited time.
Q: What does [attachment deleted by admin] text mean?
A: Image attachments are held on the server only for a limited period, usually for 30-40 days. Once the old attachments are removed, it will be replaced by this text.
Q: What is karma?
A: Karma is a feature of our forum software. It allows users to applaud (ie. give positive "votes") each others. You should applaud other user when he has, in your mind, posted a good reply in some topic. Karma helps new users to see the experienced and respected discussion users. Naturally, you can not vote for yourself or for the same person in a certain time period.
Q: Why some users who have posted messages have "Guest" status? Can guest user post messages?
A: No, guests can not post messages. You must have registered and logged in. One is only displayed as a guest in a thread if the user has removed his login account or it has been removed by the administration. In such case the system will show the username of the person, instead of the real name, and a Guest marking.
fsfreak:
I feel that this maybe a question that some (mostly new members, likely) would want to know how do you put pictures into your signtuare, umm...yes, I know we have discussed this before and I apologize, however, I have forgotten how to do that.
I also think this question should be a FAQ.
sami:
The forum FAQ should be actually updated because of the new forum.
But anyway, you can add signature by using the [img] -tags. But you must first upload the signature image to some web server. When you have done it, just add the following code to the profile's signature field, with the correct address to the image:
Code:
[img]http://www.zyx.com/uuux/my_signature.gif[/img]
(p.s. max size for signature is 500x100 pixels)
fsfreak:
10-4 Pixels: 500x100, load to a web server.
GBOAF:
any chance of bringing back the karma system as i found that to be very useful?
