Autopilot Engagement (ERJ)

(1/1)

dc:
Hi Bill,

After takeoff I usually have the FD switched on T/O mode, flying manually, and after 1000 feet I choose another mode (let's say Level Change) by clicking on the respective button on the FGC. The thing is when I press a button the autopilot immediately engages (i.e. the AP button turns on) instead of just activating the FD guidance mode for that function. Shouldn't it just command the pitch bars and leave the autopilot to be activated by a click on the AP button?

Also, to disengage the autopilot it's no use to click on the AP button...  i have to click on the Yaw Dumper button...

Is it correct at all?

Thanks,

D.C.

Devanir,

The autopilot is not supposed to come on when you push one of the alitude mode buttons. You have to change something in your aircraft.cfg file for the airplane you are using, but I can't remember what it is.

Thanks again Bill...

Anybody else knows the answer???

Under the cfg's autopilot section, make sure the flight_director_available line equals to 1.
