FS Nordic: Attaching pictures to forum

This FAQ item describes the procedure of posting image attachments to your forum messages. Thanks to member Pekka Vitikainen of the work on this tutorial.
This tutorial assumes that you have already saved the screen capture or other image to your hard drive. We use freeware program called IrfanView to resize the image.
Please refer to the discussion area's rules for the image's size limitations.
1) First we need to resize the image to fit it into forum. So, open IrfanView
2) From there, open the image you wish to attach. In this example, we add an image of certain airline's routes from Frankfurt...
3) Now when image has been opened to IrfanView, let's resize it to make it smaller so it fits to the forum's size limits. Select Resize/Resample from the menu.
4) In the opening window, set the desired size. Note that maximum allowed width is 800 pixels. In IrfanView you may either use the standard dimension buttons on right or then enter the size manually to left side of the window. In this example, we select the width of 640 pixels from standard dimensions, but keep the aspect ratio.
5) Now when image is smaller, let's save it. Just press the save button. Then select JPG format, desired save directory on your HD and the filename.
After selecting JPG format, you can see the JPG save options window. From this window you can manage the level of compression (more compression = smaller file size, but image is not so sharp anymore). A good compression value is between 75-95.
6) Now image has been saved to HD in a smaller size and we are ready to add it to the forum. Start a new topic, or reply to an existing one, and write your message.
7) Then press the "Attach images" button on the bottom part of the posting window. A new window will open (note - Javascript must be turned on!).
8) From this window, press the Browse button and then browse to the directory on your HD where you just saved the image.
After that press, the Upload Image button and the file will be transferred to FS Nordic's server - please wait a few moments.
9) When the file has been transferred, you can see the equivalent YaBB code for the image attachment.
The same code should have also appeared automatically to the actual posting window where you previously typed your message. But if it for some reason did not come up there, just copy and paste the text from the attachment window to the message.
10) You may verify that the attachment works by first using the Preview function. If everything was OK, just post the message and you image is visible!
Note that attachments are stored only for a limited period and you are not able to link them to other websites from our server.
